What do we do during Teen Time?

We truly have something for everyone. Whether you're super active, quiet, or shy we've designed our facility with a space where all can feel like they belong.

When you first walk in you are greeted by our friendly volunteers who will show you around and introduce you to other teens. As you walk through the facility, you'll see a meeting room where teens draw, play tabletop games, or just chill and conversate with friends. The Cafe is where you can enjoy free snacks and meals, ping-pong, pool table and more in a lounge type setting with comfortable seating and fun lighting. Lastly, we have our Multipurpose Room where it gets a little loud and crazy with Gaga Ball, volleyball, Laser Tag, dodgeball, pickleball and more. There's always good music playing and plenty of space to hangout even if you want to spectate or relax in a giant beanbag on your phone with some friends.

We're passionate about creating a space where teens can come and connect with others in a positive and active way. We love to be a place of release and resource where friendships are fostered, and the fun is guaranteed!

We Teach Life Skills Too!

The Haven is more than just a place for teens to hang out—it’s a space where they develop essential life skills that prepare them for adulthood. Through hands-on experiences, teens learn practical skills that encourage teamwork, responsibility, and problem-solving as students work together. For many, this is their first exposure to these fundamental life skill, helping them gain confidence that they will carry into adulthood. By equipping them with these skills, we empower teens to make healthier choices, take on responsibilities, and build the confidence they need to transition successfully into independent, capable young adults.

Life Skill: Lawn Care

We love to teach life skills here at The Haven. This one was geared around lawn care. Taking care of lawns can be a rewarding summer job. It's important to know how to mow the lawn properly to keep it looking neat and healthy. Teens learned about lawn care techniques, the differences between all the landscaping tools, and best practices. Even the pros and cons of starting your own lawn care business.

We want to give a big thanks to Kerry with the Blessing Movement for providing the tools and David with Tim's Complete Landscaping Management for teaching the skill!

Life Skill: Cooking Classes

Through hands-on experiences like cooking classes, teens learn practical skills such as meal preparation, kitchen safety, and nutrition, fostering independence and self-sufficiency. These classes also encourage teamwork, responsibility, and problem-solving as students work together to follow recipes and create meals. For many, this is their first exposure to cooking, helping them gain confidence in a fundamental life skill they will carry into adulthood.

We want to give a huge thank you to local senior citizens and grandmothers, Judy Mitton and Patrice Aarhaus, for generously volunteering their time and supplies to lead this class. Their dedication and wisdom provide an invaluable experience for our teens, helping them gain essential life skills in a fun and supportive environment.
